A Musing Thoughts:
If the US, as is now rumored, offers Saudi Arabia a treaty without them having to normalize with Israel as the price, as a manipulative way of pressuring Israel to stay out of Rafah, they will get neither a Saudi treaty nor Israeli normalization. They won’t get the treaty, because the Republicans, who may have been hesitant anyway, likely won’t give Biden a major pre-election win unless it’s tied to Israeli support (and certainly not a treaty that comes with a nuclear prize.) And they won’t get normalization even if they could deliver the treaty, because if the Saudis think they can get the treaty without normalizing, why should they jeopardize their Arab world position? (And in the end, they won’t get Rafah either: Israel, if Hamas won’t accede to a hostage release, has no domestic political choice other than to go into Rafah. Unless they go into Lebanon instead.)
Who the hell is negotiating this for the US without understanding any of the players?
Yesterday, because Democrats Abroad Global responded antisemitically to the Israeli chapter of the organization back in October (and then again and again), the Israel group pluckily reconstituted as American Democrats in Israel, and continues to valiantly support the Democratic Party here.
But I still have a problem with this. Why didn’t National Democrats, aware of the antisemitism, address it?
If the Democrats Abroad global organization had come out with anti-Black or anti-gay vitriol, I’m pretty sure the Democratic Party would have responded.
Here’s the link. Maybe I’m just getting curmudgeonly. Or maybe this is as good as it gets these days.
You decide.

Amenities Kits for Campus Protesters
UCLA campus protesters are apparently demanding vegan food and hot lunches. (A Columbia campus protest leader yesterday actually called their demands for hot lunches “humanitarian aid.”). Will they next want the full First Class cosmetics kit too?
Perhaps someone should tell these entitled kids that actions carry consequences - and illegal protests may obviate the obligation of their colleges to provide amenities. (And for God’s sakes — hot lunches? Don’t these kids know how to make sandwiches?)
(Speaking of consequences: This campus situation, despite the insistent denial of many parents I’ve spoken with, is ripe for serious violence. Stay safe, everyone.)
New York Times, I know you like to blame ‘settlers’ for everything, but if you’re going to report on Israel, please get the players straight.
Your headline, claims “Settlers Attacking Aid.”
Tzav 9 is attacking aid trucks. They are not “settlers”.
Tzav 9 are Israelis whose support of bringing the hostages home and winning the war is predicated on NOT providing humanitarian aid. (These activists are from across the political spectrum and include some of the hostage families.)
Their thinking is, maybe we can get our hostages back by not rewarding the kidnappers. Novel, huh? A lot of (non-settler) folk here are sorta wondering if maybe the government should have thought of that…
To the lefties who are misrepresenting the campus protests:
If the campus protests are about wanting a ceasefire, as they claim, why did protests start October 8 - weeks before Israel went into Gaza?
If the protests are about wanting peace for Palestinians, as they claim, why are protesters championing Hamas?
If they are only about humanitarian aid, as they claim, why didn’t they start by denouncing Hamas’ atrocities, rapes, baby killings, & kidnappings?
Why are they now calling for death to Jews (not Zionists, not Israelis, but Jews) — just like the Hamas charter? And why Jews worldwide?
And why are they chanting death to America?
How is Hamas announcing with certainty the numbers supposedly killed in Gaza, when they can’t seem to figure out whether they have 40 live Israeli hostages, or just 33, out of the 253 they kidnapped?
