You’ve been out there protesting against Israel for months.
Because it is unconscionable. Because you are appalled at the loss of life, at the inhumanity. You are self-righteous and smug in your disapproval.
At least 15,000 dead, 33,000 injured, 20 million suffering from malnutrition, 70% of hospitals shut down, 8 million displaced internally, 1.7 million fled the country.
(It used to be even worse! Between 2004 and 2009, over 400,000 were killed!)
A child dies there every hour.
It is horrible. It is atrocious. Of course everyone is protesting against Israel. What righteous person wouldn’t he?
Oops.
Rewind.
All those dead, wounded, starving, displaced that of course you’re justifiably indignant about and marching for?
They’re in Sudan.
Sudan.
Not Gaza. Sudan.
The Sudanese civil war started last April.
And you’ve been marching in protest ever since. Right?
Of course you have! Because you march against injustice and needless death and apartheid and colonialists - right?
Oh.
Sudan is not the only example. There are 7 million displaced in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), 6 million displaced or fled from Afghanistan.
50,000 Christians butchered in Nigeria. 700,000 murdered in Syria. 1.2 million dissidents executed in North Korea. Half a million Yemenite civilians murdered by Iranian-axis Houthis. 2+ million Muslims in Chinese internment camps, tens of thousands forcibly sterilized. And that’s not even counting women murdered for not wearing hijab in Iran.
There are tragedies happening worldwide, for years. And you’ve been protesting!
No?
You’ve had years to protest the carnage in Sudan and elsewhere.
How many times have you marched for the Sudanese, screaming about the river and the sea and the need for a global intifada?
Has South Africa taken Sudan to The Hague? Have most of the world leaders demanded a ceasefire? Has the US called it unconscionable and demanded they provide humanitarian aid?
Has Sudan been on the front page of the New York Times every day since October?
What about the UN, which should be the ultimate expert? UN Secretary General António Guterres said about Gaza: “We are witnessing a killing of civilians that is unparalleled and unprecedented in any conflict since I have been Secretary-General.”
Umm, except for Sudan, et al. Guess it’s easy to overlook all those other little spots if you’re only focused on trashing Jews.
Hypocrisy, anyone?
And it’s not just that you’re only interested in Moslem suppression, either. Twelve million Moslem Uyghurs are in Xinjiang, China, a suspected 2-3 million in forced labor camps, many likely being sterilized.* Have you marched for them?
For that matter, when do the world’s 40+ million Moslem Kurds get a state of their own?
Tragedies that the world is ignoring. As long as it doesn’t involve Israel.
At what point is your personal indignation, and your country’s disregard, and the world’s disinterest, just plain vanilla antisemitism?
I bet that not only haven’t you protested for Sudan: I bet you had no idea it was happening. I bet half of you have no idea where it is.
Maybe you should consider why that is.

I totally agree with you. The world ignores so much injustice, and then blames Israel for striving for security. Pure hypocrisy!
Come on Fern you know no Jews no news rules. What kind of lede is Alawite ophthalmologist despot kills thousands of coreligionists in endless civil war meh tis but a skirmish. As president and founder of the order of ancient sarcastic cynics I commend you on this mornings post.
